Printack

The Printack features a new instumental test method for investigating the setting of inks on coated substrates. The Printack is an extremely accurate static tackmeter. The method is based on a rubber covered disc being pushed onto the freshly printed surface with a pre-determined force. After a contact time the disc is pulled off the surface with the same constant force. The release time is the elapsed time between the application of the force and the actual release or full separation of the disc from the surface. This time is a function of the adhesion of the coating and a measure for the setting properties of the specific ink/paper (coating) combination.

This method offers a tremendous advantage in the study and prediction of problems such as piling. It is also possible to wet the substrate prior to ink transfer and adhesion tests.

It is also possible to gradually increase the contact force effectively creating a force-contact time-release matrix which makes the method very suitable for manufacturers of pressure sensitive adhesives.
